In talks with Raymond Kelly, Managing Partner, Raymond Sport

Raymond Sport will be exhibiting its latest products at the Urban Design and Landscape Expo in Dubai this November. We spoke to the Managing Partner, Raymond Kelly; here's what he told us as he prepares to participate to the largest dedicated platform for the Urban Design & Landscape industry in the Middle East.

Please tell us a bit about your company and its vision.

The RS Leisure Group was created in 2019 to give a corporate identity and umbrella holding company structure to Raymond Sport and four associate companies which had previously all operated independently.
Presenting ourselves as part of a Group of focused, like minded, health and leisure related businesses is a strategic move. It brings to each of the companies in the Group, economies of scale not normally associated with SME’s.
This is essential in today’s market as we position for the future, it strengthens our balance sheet. It also allows our international suppliers to see corporate growth, improves our various banking relationships which increases our project financing capabilities and gives us a strategic advantage over our competitors.  

Why did you decide to sponsor Urban Design & Landscape Expo?

At RS Leisure Group, we are convinced that industry gatherings like UDLE are great forums to present our Group of companies and their specialities. Events like UDLE are “meetings of minds” and attendees are more focused on sponsors and exhibitors than they would be in their respective office environments.

What makes the RS Leisure Group stand out from among its competitors?

As we are part of a group of focused, like minded, health and leisure related businesses we present more professionally. This professionalism brings to each of the companies in the group, economies of scale not normally associated with SME’s. This is essential in today’s market as each of the group companies position for the future and growth and it gives both the individual companies in the group and the group as a whole a strategic advantage over our competitors.  

What products will you be showcasing at the show?

We will  be showcasing and demonstrating examples of our expertise in aquatic safety surfacing, synthetic track and pitch construction, Olympic standard stadium seating, world class fitness equipment, playground and outdoor fitness equipment, functional fitness flooring and fitness and health wearable tech.

What is your opinion on being part of trade shows to promote one’s brand in today’s day and age?

There is nothing quite like engaging with your clients and industry professionals face to face. You just can’t beat, “being there”.  Industry gatherings, “meetings of minds”  like UDLE are great forums to present our group companies and their specialities.

Why is it important to do business in the Gulf region? What is unique about it compared to other regions?

For the RS Leisure Group the Gulf Region of the Middle East is our “home market”, you cannot get any more important than that for a “local Group”. For our international suppliers, all of them World Class and operating in all the important international markets they rely on us to introduce and bring their products to this vibrant market. All markets have unique features, some more than others. What is striking about the Gulf Region market is its absolute resilience. Regional tensions ebb and flow, global financial crisis develop, regardless, the Gulf Region continues to deliver participants in its market places solid returns.

Is there something you are really looking forward to in the pipeline?

Yes there is a development that really excites us. Our investment in the playground equipment sector, partnering with Dynamo Playgrounds of Canada will be a game changer for us. 
There is real synergy here with our existing Melos Oasis line of impact absorbing safety playground surfacing and our STYLEMAKER App. STYLEMAKER allows for owner designed graphics and images, special shapes and colours etc to be designed on an owners ipad via the app and sent straight into production using 3D printing technology templates.
This is a first in the playground safety surfacing industry. We shall launch both our cooperation with DYNAMO and our use of STYLEMAKER at the Show.
